The Area

Padstow is a beautiful ,working fishing port on the north Cornwall coast boasting the most picturesque harbour, coastline, unspoilt beaches and spectacular country scenery. It must be one of Britain's most beautiful towns. Its charm lies in its unique setting, nestling on the west side of the Camel Estuary, well sheltered with quaint individual houses, cottages, shops and restaurants all surrounding the busy harbour which attracts people from all over the world. Behind the harbour the cobbled streets are lined with slate-clad houses, pastel cottages, taverns, art galleries, antique shops and world class restaurants. Stroll around the quaint corners and crooked byways of Padstow and you will find the historic parish church, Prideaux Palace
and the Deer Park, several Inns and magnificent restaurants including Rick Stein's world famous Seafood restaurant. the wonderful Number 6 Pescadou restaurant and Jamie Oliver's Fifteen restaurant over at Watergate Bay.

The surrounding area is a designated area of outstanding natural beauty with hidden coves, long sandy beaches, lovely cliff and country walks. There are dozens of beaches and coves nearby, all facing different directions and therefore facilitating swimming,
sunbathing, surfing or fishing. There is a shuttle Ferry across the Estuary to Rock. There one can play golf at the famous Endoc Golf club have lunch or stroll the long beaches and visit John Betjeman s grave. The Camel Trail is a wonderful 18 mile cycle and walking track along the old disused Wadebridge to Padstow railway line. This line used to run to Waterloo and took people from the smoke of the city to the fresh country Cornish air, unfortunately the railway line no longer exsists but the fresh Cornish air does. www.visitcornwall.com
